It’s old news now but last Friday Marc Gene absolutely obliterated the fastest lap at Road Atlanta. The lap record was set by Peugeot in 2008 at a 1:06.242 but Gene turned a 1:01.2 in a F2003GA or for the less historians, a Ferrari F1 car from 2003. Now unofficially Peugeot clocked a 1:04 in testing but either way, this is night and day faster.

I was lucky enough to be standing on the outside of turn one during his lap and it was absolutely stunning. I’m pretty sure there was no braking, just a lift and the downforce slowed the car.

Anyway, enough talk. Here’s the in-car video. It’s obviously hacked from somewhere else so the quality isn’t great but you get the point. Note the braking into turn ten.
